Black Gold In A Bottle?

mo-oil4There are just way too many products out there with claims of great powers and wonderment. Haven't we all spent too much money trying them out? Well, I'm here to do that for you. This time I tried the now famous Moroccanoil!
Okay ladies, this is one of those products that I resisted buying for a long time. My colorist recommended it a year ago but I didn't bite. I thought a hair product with "oil" in the name just was not for me.
Well, recently I went to get my hair cut and the woman washing my hair told me it was really dry. After living with partially oily hair for years, dry hair was something I just couldn't admit to having-- until now.
Long story short, while on vacation in sunny Arizona I realized I should take the time and money to try something new. To get the full impact of the Moroccanoil hair line I bought four different products.

Here's What I Used:
mo-oil5
1. Moroccanoil® Treatment: According to the company, this is a weightless finishing, styling and shine product in one, which protects against UV damage and other environmental hazards. The argan oil-infused formula is rich in Vitamins A, E and F (Omega 6), as well as phenols and tocopherols to nourish the hair. It absorbs into the hair instantly, leaving a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine. Moroccanoil Treatment also softens thick unmanageable hair, restores dull lifeless locks and helps brittle hair become more supple. This sells for around $40.

2. Moroccanoil® Intense Hydrating Mask: The company claims this is intensive care for stressed hair. No heat required. A rinse-out, deep conditioning treatment that treats hair with moisture and protein, adding shine and elasticity. Used weekly, this highly effective mask revitalizes the hair, restoring shine and manageability. $33

3. Moroccanoil® Moisture Repair Shampoo:  contains a rich formula that gently cleanses, protects and improves hair¹s condition and repairs color treated, highlighted or damaged hair, leaving it soft, smooth, shiny and full of body. The formula contains Moroccanoil®¹s original, proprietary Argan Oil blend. Along with Avocado Oil and antioxidant plant extracts, including Rosemary, Lavender, Chamomile and Jojoba as well as Silk amino acids, keratin, proteins and other nutrients. $20

mo-oil24. Moroccanoil® Moisture Repair Conditioner gently detangles, reconstructs and strengthens weak, damaged, color-treated and highlighted hair. The formula is highly concentrated infuses hair with Moroccanoil®¹s original, proprietary Argan Oil blend. It works on two molecular levels, to penetrate moisture to the cortex and cuticle of the hair shaft. Rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids, vegetable protein, and antioxidant plant extracts including Rosemary, Lavender, Chamomile, and Jojoba. $22

Fashion and beauty insiders have already tried Moroccanoil® and the reviews seem to be good. I've used the line for about a month now and I can tell you now that I would buy it again.
The first time I used all of the products I was ready with paddle brush, rolling brush, hair dryer and a hot curling iron. All of these tools are needed to not only straighten but to de-frizz my hair. I dried my hair and was shocked that I didn't need my curling iron-- I couldn't believe it. For the first time since my hair troubles started I was able to leave the house without pulling a hot iron through my hair. My hairdresser can do this no matter what hair products I'm using but I have to pay $50 for a blow out.
RESULTS:

My hair looked great the next day. It was straight and had a healthy appearance. I love the smell of Moroccanoil and the lightweight Argan oil-infused products DID NOT leave my hair looking or feeling oily. On the down side-- the conditioner does not detangle as much as I would like but the end result is still nice.
The company claims this line absorbs instantly into hair to smooth, fortify and protect, create luminious shine, remove static and frizz, as well as speed drying time. I have found it does smooth and reduce frizz. It definitely has helped to reduce the amount of time I spend on my hair. I will continue to use the products to see if I notice an increase in shine.

For the most part Moroccanoil lives up to its claims. While the line may be considered expensive I think it's worth the price.
TIP:

If you have dry and/or frizzy hair consider skipping a day and wash your hair every other day. It took me too long to realize this simple rule. Wearing a shower cap may not be your thing but think of your hair!
