Some doctors get paid more to perform c-sections and it’s certainly easier on their hectic schedules. I believe these doctors are certainly in the minority. But there is also a legitimate concern of litigation. If something goes wrong during a vaginal birth, some doctors fear possible lawsuits. As for the patient’s role, more women are now demanding c-sections. So what was once considered to be an emergency procedure seems to be the norm.
There are plenty of women who think recovery from a c-section is no big deal while others find the long recovery period and pain to be unnecessary. I say do what’s best for you and your baby—just know the benefits and risks of both methods.
